Ingredients
  

  • Cake:
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup pecans chopped and toasted
  • Frosting:
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Topping:
  • Extra toasted pecans

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven and prepare cake pans.
  • Toast pecans until fragrant.
  • Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  • Add eggs and vanilla and mix well.
  • Whisk dry ingredients separately.
  • Combine dry ingredients with milk alternately.
  • Fold in toasted pecans gently.
  • Divide batter and bake until done.
  • Cool cakes and prepare frosting.
  • Frost cake, add pecans, and serve.

Notes

Toast pecans for the best flavor
Do not overmix the batter
Cool completely before frosting
