Ingredients
  

  • Chocolate Cake Base:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup hot water
  • Chocolate Mousse:
  • 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional Topping:
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Whipped cream

Instructions
 

  • Prepare chocolate cake batter and bake.
  • Allow cake to cool completely.
  • Melt chocolate and butter.
  • Whip cream until soft peaks form.
  • Fold chocolate into whipped cream to make mousse.
  • Spread mousse over cake and refrigerate until set.
