Ingredients
  

  • Pie Crust:
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust homemade or store-bought
  • Apple Filling:
  • 6 –7 cups apples peeled, cored, and sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Crumb Topping:
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter cold and cubed

Instructions
 

  • Toss apples with sugar, spices, and thickeners.
  • Fill pie crust and top with crumb mixture.
  • Bake until golden and bubbly.
  • Cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Use firm apples
  • Cool fully for clean slices
  • Tent if browning too fast
  • Excellent with vanilla ice cream
