chicken broth or water

bacon
diced (or smoked ham hock)

medium onion
diced

green bell pepper
diced

cloves
garlic
minced

bay leaf

dried thyme

tsp
smoked paprika
½
tsp
black pepper
Salt to taste

cooked white rice
Optional garnish: chopped green onions or hot sauce
Instructions
Soak and rinse peas.
Cook bacon and sauté vegetables.
Add peas, broth, and seasonings.
Simmer until tender.
Serve over rice.
