Best Italian Sausage Pasta

A hearty pasta dish made with Italian sausage, tomato sauce, and tender pasta.

Ingredients
  

  • Pasta:
  • 12 oz pasta penne, rigatoni, or spaghetti
  • Sausage:
  • 1 pound Italian sausage mild or spicy
  • Sauce:
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 can 14 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Optional Garnish:
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil chopped

Instructions
 

  • Cook pasta according to package instructions.
  • Brown Italian sausage in a skillet.
  • Add onion and garlic and cook until softened.
  • Stir in crushed tomatoes and seasonings and simmer.
  • Toss pasta with the sauce and garnish before serving.

Notes

Use quality Italian sausage for the best flavor
Do not overcook the pasta
Simmer sauce to deepen flavor
Serve with Parmesan and fresh basil
