Best Pho Recipe

A traditional Vietnamese noodle soup with rich broth, rice noodles, and fresh herbs.

Ingredients
  

  • Broth:
  • 2 pounds beef bones or chicken for variation
  • 1 onion halved
  • 3- inch piece ginger sliced
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 8 cups water
  • Noodles & Protein:
  • 12 oz rice noodles
  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef or cooked chicken
  • Garnish:
  • Fresh basil
  • Cilantro
  • Bean sprouts
  • Lime wedges
  • Sliced jalapeƱos

Instructions
 

  • Char onion and ginger for flavor.
  • Simmer bones with spices and water to make broth.
  • Strain broth and cook noodles separately.
  • Assemble bowls with noodles and meat.
  • Pour hot broth and add garnishes.

Simmer gently for a clear broth
Skim impurities during cooking
Use fresh herbs for the best flavor
