- 1 lb Italian sausage mild or sage, casings removed
- 10 –12 cups day-old bread cubes
- 1 medium onion finely diced
- 2 celery stalks finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1½ –2 cups chicken broth warm
- 1½ tsp dried sage
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 2 large eggs lightly beaten
- Optional garnish: chopped parsley
Dry bread cubes if needed.
Brown sausage and sauté vegetables.
Combine with bread, seasoning, broth, and eggs.
Bake covered, then uncovered until golden.
